A Fresh Start: Building Your Best Year Yet
Start your year at your own pace and still make it count.
First Newsletter of the Year—We Made It! 🎉
If you’re reading this, congratulations! You’ve been blessed with another opportunity to create the life you want, chase your dreams, and even start over if you need to.
As we step into this new year, here are a few things I’m keeping in mind that might resonate with you too:
1️⃣ Clarity Takes Time
If some goals or plans feel a little unclear right now—maybe you don’t know exactly how you’ll achieve them—don’t stress. These things often come together when you least expect them. The key is to keep working on the parts you can control. Trust the process, and as long as you stay consistent, the dots will connect in ways you couldn’t have planned when you least expect it. There was a huge question mark over a lot of things for me in 2024 that in the last 6 weeks of the year came together like it had all been perfectly orchestrated.
2️⃣ Focus on What’s Within Your Control
Set actionable, specific goals that you can directly influence. For example, instead of saying, “I want to get promoted,” break it down into steps like:
Submit all work ahead of deadlines.
Schedule monthly catch-ups with your manager.
Take on one extra project this quarter.
Or instead of just saying, “I want to gain 5kg,” focus on habits like eating 2,500 calories a day or hitting the gym three times a week. These small, measurable actions are important in making sure you become the person who is prepared to receive the goal even if the goal doesn’t show up exactly how you imagined it to.
3️⃣ Get an Accountability Partner
I say this every single year but i’ll say it again, wherever you can, find someone who will hold you accountable. It might be your colleague, your personal trainer, your therapist, your pastor, your best friend or even an app on your phone but knowing that you have to report back to someone or something makes a heck of difference. Also talking through your goals with someone else can help you sense-check and maybe even push you to do more.
Lastly remember that,
The year is a marathon, not a sprint. January doesn’t have to be perfect. Take the time you need to get organised and start your race at your own pace. While a month might feel like a sprint, a year is long enough to completely transform your life at a steady pace. I’ve had years that changed everything for me, and they didn’t all start out feeling perfect. The key is to keep moving forward with agility and consistency.
Lessons From This Week’s Podcast Guest
In this week’s episode of Building Wealth with No Borders, I sat down with Silvia Eldawi, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud as much during a podcast before. Silvia has had a long and impressive career in real estate, working across the UK and Dubai as both a director and a founder. One of the most intriguing topics we explored was whether some people are inherently destined to be broke or rich—whether their "lot" in life is already assigned to them. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this …
We also tackled another #WealthWoe which read:
“I am very passionate about building wealth but can’t seem to place my head on the things that I want to do to build wealth career wise. I literally excel at anything I do which makes it difficult to decide on what exactly I want to do. I am scared of walking the path of aimlessness. What do I do?”
If you have any supportive and kind advice to share, please jump into the conversation in the comments on Instagram or YouTube. If you have a wealth woe you can submit it anonymously here: https://ngl.link/buildingwealthwnb
This week’s topic for the paid community is My Word of The Year, keep scrolling past the links to hear me talk about this topic
